Binding: late rebound (17th or 18th Century) in full morocco calf, marbled, finely gilt at spine and tooled in gilt frames at boards. Decoration: woodcut initials and double print in red is not present in this edition. Copy with blank spaces for woodcut coloured letters, eventually missing the last blank page.

This is the prose translation by the Veronese humanist Antonio Beccaria (1400-1474). Dionysius's work first appeared in print in a free verse translation in Priscian's Opera in 1470 before the first Beccaria edition of 1477. Work initially translated into Latin by Rufius Festus Avienus, and by the grammarian Priscian. There is a commentary by Eustachio of Thessalonica.

Dionysius Periegetes (Greek: Διονύσιος ὁ Περιηγητής, literally Dionysius the Voyager or Traveller, often Latinized to Dionysius Periegeta), also known as Dionysius of Alexandria, was the author of a description in Greek hexameter verse of the world known at the time. He is believed to have been from Alexandria and to have lived around the time of Emperor Adrian (117–138 a.d.). The work was a popular schoolbook in ancient times.
