Mapa da Península Ibérica (Portugal e Espanha) com a dimensão total de 140x180 cm.

Composto por 4 lâminas separadas de 67x90 cm, contendo cada lâmina quadrículas de 33x45 cm, coladas sobre tela.

Mapa acondicionado em estojo de encadernação inteira em marroquim verde, cansada, com ferros a ouro em esquadria decorativa e título gravado «Map of Spain and Portugal».

Colorido e anotado (somente no território de Portugal) com várias zonas ditas “geológicas”, mas que no entanto também representam zonas de operações militares, com percursos assinalados e recomendados pelos generais ingleses, contendo numerações em algumas povoações e províncias.

No canto inferior direito apresenta título de posse da época: «Mr. John Fowler».

Carta geográfica militar na escala de 1:740.000, litografada a preto e branco sobre folhas 33x45 cm de papel avergoado com traçados aguarelados.

Contém escalas gráficas graduadas com a representação de: Léguas Espanholas, Léguas Nuevas, Léguas Portuguesas, Léguas Marítimas, Léguas Francesas, Léguas Legais, Léguas Postais e Quilómetros.

Quadro com tabela de conversão das medidas anteriores. Latitudes e longitudes delineadas, graduadas e numeradas na cercadura da carta.

Apresenta legenda com sinais convencionais para cidades capitais de província, capitais de distrito, localidades fortificadas, cidades comuns e povoações, Estradas Reais ou de Trânsito Postal, estradas e caminhos para viaturas, estradas para cavalos e caminhos pedonais limítrofes dos reinos e das províncias.

Conforme consta em nota de rodapé: “esta publicação oficial do Depósito de Material de Guerra do Exército Francês fez uso para a redacção desta Carta dos Itinerários recolhidos em Espanha e em Portugal, bem como nos reconhecimentos militares efectuados nos últimos anos das Campanhas napoleónicas pelos oficiais do Real Corpo de Engenheiros-Geógrafos e de outros oficiais.”.

Obra não consta na cartografia da BNP.

Existe um exemplar no Dêpôt de la Guerre em França.

Map of the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain) measuring 40x180 cm. Composed by 4 separated sheets with 67x90 cm, each sheet containing grids of 33x45 cm, glued on canvas.

Map in a full green leather binding case, slightly worn, with gilt tools within decorative gilt frames and engraved gilt title «Map of Spain and Portugal».

Coloured and with notes (just in the Portuguese territory) with several “geological” areas also representing areas of military operations, with marked routes recommended by English generals, containing numberings in some villages and provinces. It presents, in the right low corner, a contemporary ownership title: “Mr. John Fowler”.

Contains graphic scales graduated with representation of Spanish Leagues, Leguas Nuevas, Portuguese Leagues, Maritime Leagues, French Leagues, Legal Leagues, etc.

Conversion table for the previous measurements.

Latitudes and longitudes outlined, graduated and numbered on the edges.

Subtitles and conventional signs for: provincial capital cities, district capital cities, fortified towns, common cities and villages, Royal or Postal Traffic Roads, roads and paths for cars, roads for horses, and footpaths limits of kingdoms and provinces.

As stated in the footnote: This official publication of the Deposit of War Material of the French Army has used, for the drafting of the Map, the information collected in Spain and Portugal, as well as from military reconnaissance conducted in the last years of Napoleon’s Campaigns by officers of the Royal Corps of Engineers, Geographers, and other officers.”.

Map is not listed in the Portuguese National Library (BNP).

There is a copy in the Dêpôt de la Guerre" in France.
