It contains a collection of poems by Spanish poets from the 18th and 19th centuries, and translations into Spanish of poems from French poets of the same period (1786-1835-1846).

A very important manuscript for the study of the Spanish poetry and the translation of the French poets carried out during the first half of the 19th century in Spain.

This manuscript belongs to the category of the so called “Cancioneiro de Mão” [literally Hand songbook], books where the poetry lovers copied different poems and which are essential for the study of poetry in the Iberian Peninsula, where they have been used from the 16th to the 19th century. The first researcher referring to their importance was Carolina Michaëlis de Vasconcelos and, after her, several were studied and published by several scholars, being used to identify authors and the fixation of the text of the poems.

The extended use of this way to promote poetry, specific of the Iberian Peninsula, had two reasons: the high price of printed books, and the fact that poets were members of restrict social groups with their own ways to relate with others.
