Profusamente ilustrado com gravuras coloridas à mão dos brasões de 166 cidades e vilas de Portugal Continental e Ultramarino. 

O verso de cada uma das gravuras, impressas sobre folhas de papel muito encorpado, contém uma descrição do respectivo brasão e do seu significado. O texto apresenta-se enquadrado por tarja de filete duplo com motivos geométricos e ornamentada com florões nos cantos.

Exemplar com etiqueta de Augusto Ferin Livreiro Encadernador colada no interior da folha de guarda do 2º volume. 

Brasonário dos concelhos de Portugal continental, ilhas e territórios do ultramar, publicado por ocasião das festas de aclamação do Rei D. Pedro V, em 16 de Setembro de 1855. Esta informação foi recolhida em Inácio Vilhena Barbosa que publicou um brasonário de menor qualidade gráfica cinco anos depois e que se refere a este brasonário mas sem dizer quem foi o autor ou o editor.   

A presente colecção, raríssima, é a mais completa que apareceu à venda nas últimas décadas com os brasões de um total de 166 cidades e vilas. Para a grande raridade contribui o facto de estes brasões terem sido colocados à venda individualmente, não tendo, por isso, esta obra folhas de rosto. 

O exemplar da BNP em 1908 tinha só 163 gravuras, nesse ano foi acrescentada a gravura da Chamusca e em 1960 foi acrescentada a gravura de Abrantes e foi completado numa data posterior.         

O 1º volume contém as vilas e cidades de Abrantes a Lagos e o 2º volume as vilas e cidades de Lamego a Viseu. Os brasões relativos a Portugal Continental incluem Olivença, vilas como Belém ou Olivais que foram integradas em Lisboa como freguesias, Évora dos Coutos de Alcobaça, integrada como freguesia no concelho de Alcobaça, e Cabeço de Vide integrada no concelho de Alter do Chão em 1855 e no de Fronteira em 1932.  

A Madeira está representada por três brasões: Funchal, Machico e Porto Santo. Os Açores por sete brasões: Açores (Ilhas), Angra do Heroísmo, Calheta, Horta, Ponta Delgada, Santa Cruz e Praia da Vitória. Angola por dois brasões: S. Paulo de Luanda e Benguela. A Índia por dois brasões: Bardez e Salcete, e Goa. Seguidamente com um brasão cada Pernambuco e Baía no Brasil, São Tiago em Cabo Verde, Macau, S. Sebastião de Moçambique na Ilha de Moçambique e finalmente Dili em Timor.

Profusely illustrated with hand coloured coats of arms of 166 cities and villages of Portuguese Mainland and Overseas Territories. 

In the back of each coat of arms, printed on very thick paper, there is a description of the coat of arms and its meaning. The text is printed within a double tool frame with geometric motifs and decorated corners.

Copy with a label of Augusto Ferin Livreiro Encadernador [Augusto Ferin Bookseller and Bookbinder] glued on the front free endpaper of the second volume. 

This Heraldic Book of the districts of Portuguese Mainland, Islands and Overseas was published on the 16th September 1855 at the time of the acclamation of King D. Pedro V.  This information was ontained in a Heraldik Book - printed five years later and of less graphic quality - published by Inácio Vilhena Barbosa, where he mentions this Book but without mentioning who was the author or the editor.   

This extremely rare collection is the most complete that has ever been on the market for the last decades, containing a total of 166 coats of arms of several cities and villages. The fact that these coats of arms have been sold individually contributes to the rarity of this collection and justifies that there is no title page for this work. 

The copy at the Portuguese National Library (BNP) only had 163 coats of arms in 1908, when the coat of arms of Chamusca was added, and later, in 1960, that of Abrantes. The final coat of arms missing was added at a later date.         

The first volume contains villages and cities in alphabetical order starting with Abrantes and ending with Lagos; the second volume starts with Lamego and ends with Viseu.

The coats of arms of the villages and cities of Portuguese Mainland include Olivença (today under Spanish administration in violation of international treaties), Belém or Olivais which have since been included as Parishes of Lisbon, as well as Évora dos Coutos de Alcobaça as parish of the district of Alcobaça, Cabeço de Vide in the district of Alter do Chão in 1855 and later in the district of Fronteira in 1932.
