A Constituição Política do Império do Brasil inspirou o texto da Carta Constitucional da Monarquia Portuguesa e foram publicadas juntamente nesta edição por liberais portugueses exilados em França, como forma de propaganda dos princípios liberais expressos nas duas constituições, durante a Guerra Civil, no período em que D. Miguel reinava em Portugal e tinha reinstaurado um regime absoluto sem os limites de uma constituição.

A Constituição do Império do Brasil foi outorgada por D. Pedro, como Imperador do Brasil, em 25 de Março de 1824 e a Carta Constitucional outorgada por D. Pedro, como rei D. Pedro IV de Portugal, em 29 de Abril de 1826, cinco dias após ter recebido a notícia da morte de D. João VI comunicada por Lord Stuart.

Edição muito rara. Inocêncio não refere esta edição e a Porbase não tem qualquer exemplar catalogado. A 1ª edição da Constituição Política do Império do Brasil foi publicada no Rio de Janeiro, Typ. Imperial & Nacional. 1824. A 1ª edição da Carta Constitucional da Monarquia Portuguesa foi publicada no Rio de Janeiro, Typ. Imperial & Nacional. 1826.

Muito importante para a história do Império Brasileiro e da Monarquia Constitucional em Portugal. A Constituição Política do Império do Brasil vigorou desde 25 de Março de 1824 até 24 de Fevereiro de 1891 e foi elaborada pelo Conselho de Estado do Brasil devido ao descontentamento de D. Pedro com as propostas da Assembleia Constituinte que previam a limitação dos seus poderes e atribuíam uma maior capacidade política ao Poder Executivo.

A Carta Constitucional, que é o segundo texto constitucional de Portugal, com características de maior moderação política do que a anterior constituição de 1822, que, pelo seu extremismo, tinha sido rejeitada por muitos portugueses, vigorou desde 1826 até 1910, com interrupções (1828-1834, 1838-1842) e com as revisões de 1852, 1885, 1896 e 1907.

D. Pedro IV, outorgou este texto constitucional, para tentar tornar o regime liberal mais aceitável para todos os Portugueses, mas a sua iniciativa não teve êxito, sendo atacada pelos liberais mais à esquerda e pelos absolutistas, seguindo-se a Guerra Civil de 1828 a 1834 e a revolução Setembrista liderada por Passos Manuel, que impôs a Constituição de 1838, que vigorou até 1842. Nesta data a Carta Constitucional foi reposta em vigor e, com algumas alterações decorrentes das revisões referidas acima, tornou-se a lei fundamental da Monarquia Constitucional até 1910. O Hino de Portugal durante este período era chamado o «Hino da Carta».

Very important work for the history of the Brazilian Empire and the Constitutional Monarchy in Portugal. The Political Constitution of the Empire of Brazil was effective from March 25, 1824 to February 24, 1891 and was drafted by the Council of State of Brazil due to D. Pedro"s being discontent with the proposals of the Constituent Assembly that provided for the limitation of its powers and attributed greater political capacity to the executive power.

The Constitutional Charter, which is the second constitutional text of Portugal, with characteristics of greater political moderation than the previous constitution of 1822, which, due to its extremism, had been rejected by many Portuguese. It was effective from 1826 to 1910, with interruptions (1828-1834, 1838-1842) and with revisions of 1852, 1885, 1896 and 1907.

D. Pedro IV, granted this constitutional text, to try to make the liberal regime more acceptable to all Portuguese, but his initiative was unsuccessful, being attacked by radical left liberals and absolutists, followed by the Civil War of 1828 to 1834 and the September Revolution led by Passos Manuel, that imposed the Constitution of 1838, which prevailed until 1842. On this date the Constitutional Charter was restored and, with some changes resulting from the revisions mentioned above, became the fundamental law of the Constitutional Monarchy until 1910. The Anthem of Portugal during this period was called the 'Hymn of the Charter'.
