Giovani Battista Marino (Naples 1569-1625) considered the greatest representative of Baroque poetry in Italy, called by his name marinista. The Dicerie sacre (1614) is an anthology in the style of a chart of prose (sermons) much appreciated, reunited through various themes of classical literature – as huge sermons that have little to do with religion - applying the metaphors of classical mythology, a specialty mariniana widely imitated during the Baroque. The Dicerie Sacre are divided into three parts: 1. Painting 2. Music, 3. The Sky The subjects are pleasing to the modern reader by the eloquence and the aesthetics of human experience and artistic therein. The lack of studies and modern editions of the works of Marino is a case virtually unique among Italian writers, and considered embarrassing for the Italian culture.
