Binding a late European 19th century ¾ calf, preserving original covers on golden silk fabric.

Containing 24 pages with full color woodblock prints 17 x 13 cm; actually 12 double page engravings with hand colored finishing.

Scarce book.

A wonderful color woodblock printed album from one of the greatest Japanese masters of engraving, published in the Edo period. The work is basically a dictionary of birdwatching, explaining birds and flowers by pictures.
