Personal album (unknown owner) with photo memorabilia of World War II, once belonging to a young officer dressed in Japanese M98 full field uniform with cap and insignia (and M98 overcoat).

Focusing on two different themes which are mixed on the original displayed sequence:

a) Daily life of the garrison and formal portrays of the comrades-in-arms (17 photos are military ID card photos, all portraying officers-of-staff or superior privates as per shoulder insignias);

b) Daily life in China under Japanese occupation (street life an candid pictures of Chinese individuals; some working routines as vending, repairing, the traditional arts and crafts, calligraphic clerk, fish drying, etc.).

These hundreds of photographs, mostly snapshots, are all “in situ” in this original photo album, although there are 23 photos missing, taking into account the blank spaces still with traces of glue.

The album starts (opposite of western reading) with 2 stamps (magazine cuts) of the Emperor Hirohito and the Empress Kojun. Next 3 folios (with 8 photographs missing) are followed by a folio with individual photos of the owner, and individual photos of his close comrades, all of them surrounding the photo of the General Rensuke Isogai (General in the Imperial Japanese Army and Governor of Hong Kong under Japanese occupation from February 20, 1942 to December 24 of the same year). Another photo in the album seems to be of General Takashi Sakai who first invaded Hong Kong, just a few hours after the attack on Pearl Harbour.
