Exemplar com os mapas em bom estado com impressão forte e nítida. Os primeiros dezasseis mapas com uma pequena marca de humidade no canto superior direito. Frontispício com sinais de uso e com leves rasgos marginais. No verso da ultima carta (pág. 121) nota manuscrita a tinta com letra muito bonita, contendo um índice alfabético por nome.

Este atlas está preenchido de belas gravuras abertas em cobre. Após o frontispício seguem-se 121 páginas com planos e cartas de portos à volta do Mar Mediterrâneo e que incluem Barcelona Gibraltar, Málaga, Alicante, Cete, Marselha, Ferraro, Napoles, Sicilia, Tripoli, Moulins, Alexandria, Malta, Veneza, Trieste, Corfu, Atenas, o estreito de Dardanelos e muitos mais. Estes fabulosos planos retratam detalhadamente as vilas, cidades e fortificações circundantes a portos e baías. Esta edição expandida acrescenta gravuras adicionais à primeira edição de 1764. O seu espectacular frontispício apresenta figuras de querubins, globo, tridente, golfinho, compasso e canhão com balas. Dedicado ao Ministro da Marinha o Duque de Choiseul.

Os exemplares completos deste atlas, que conheceu verdadeiro sucesso e foi reimpresso ao longo dos anos até ao século XIX, são raros ou encontram-se em mau estado, tendo dificilmente sobrevivido ao uso intensivo a que eram sujeitos nas embarcações ou a frequente manipulação por motivos de estudo.

Copy with maps generally very good or fine, each with dark, early impressions. The first 16 maps have a little damp stain at upper right corner. Title page is soiled with some short edge tears. On verso of the last map (Pl. 121) is an ink manuscript notation, a beautifully lettered contents, ordered alphabetically by name.

This atlas is filled with strongly engraved copper plate plans of ports and harbors around the Mediterranean. Following the title page are 121 full page sheets of plans including Barcelona, Gibraltar, Malaga, Alicante, Cette, Marseille, Ferraro, Naples, Sicily, Tripoli, Moulins, Alexandria, Malte, Venice, Trieste, Corfou, Athens, the Dardenelle Straits, and many more. These fabulous plans detail the various towns and cities in their fortifications, with surrounding harbors and bays. Locates chateaus and other physical features. This expanded edition adds additional engravings from Roux's first edition of 1764. The spectacular title page features putti, globe, trident, dolphin, compass, and canon with shot. Dedicated to the Duc de Choiseul, minister of the navy.

Complete copies of this atlas, which met great success and was reprinted over the years until the nineteenth century, are rare or are in poor condition, having barely survived the intensive use to which they were subjected in vessels, or frequent handling for reasons of study.
