O Tratado de Tordesilhas foi um acordo bilateral assinado na povoação de Tordesilhas, em 7 de Junho de 1494, celebrado entre o reino de Portugal e a Coroa de Castela. Foi ratificado por Castela em 2 de Julho e por Portugal em 5 de Setembro de 1494. O documento em castelhano foi entregue ao Rei de Portugal e encontra-se atualmente no Arquivo Nacional da Torre do Tombo, em Lisboa; o documento redigido em português está no Arquivo Geral das Índias, em Sevilha.

Trata-se do culminar de um longo processo de negociações entre os dois reinos para dividirem entre si as terras descobertas e a descobrir em todo o mundo. A linha de demarcação foi definida como sendo o meridiano que passava a 370 léguas a oeste da ilha de Santo Antão, no Arquipélago de Cabo Verde.

This edition was published together with a study of the document by Juan Perez de Tudela, with transcription by Tomas Marin Martinez and José Manuel Ruiz Acencio, whhich is not present.

The Treaty of Tordesillas was a bilateral agreement signed in the town of Tordesillas on 7 June 1494 between the Kingdom of Portugal and the Crown of Castile. It was ratified by Castile on 2 July and by Portugal on 5 September 1494. The document in Castilian was given to the King of Portugal and is currently in the National Archives of the Torre do Tombo in Lisbon; the document written in Portuguese is in the General Archives of the Indies in Seville.

This was the culmination of a long process of negotiations between the two kingdoms to divide up the discovered and undiscovered lands around the world. The demarcation line was defined as the meridian that passed 370 leagues to the west of the island of Santo Antão, in the Cape Verde Archipelago.
