Philip Barker-Webb (Milford House, Surrey, Reino Unido 1793 - Paris 1854). Botânico britânico foi educado na Harrow School e na Christ Church, em Oxford. Recolheu plantas em Itália, Espanha, Portugal e nas Montanhas de Tetuão em Marrocos, onde foi o primeiro botânico a fazê-lo. Durante a sua expedição ao Brasil fez escala nas Canárias, onde ficou muito mais tempo do que o previsto. No regresso do Brasil voltou a ficar nas Canárias, de 1828 a 1830, onde recolheu espécimes da flora, com a ajuda de Sabin Berthelot.

É autor das seguintes obras: Osservazioni intorno allo stato antico e presente dell’Agro trojano del Signor Filippo Barker Webb. Sabin Berthelot (Marseille, 1794 - 1880). Naturalista e etnólogo francês. Depois de uma carreira na Marinha de Guerra Francesa, durante as guerras Napoleónicas e, posteriormente, na Marinha Mercante, estabeleceu-se nas Canárias em 1820, onde foi professor numa escola em Tenerife e administrador dos jardins botânicos do Marquês de Villanueva del Prato, em Orotava. Berthelot dedicou-se ao estudo da História Natural das ilhas e recebeu a colaboração de Barker-Webb, sendo possível publicar o primeiro volume da Histoire Naturelle, em Génova, no ano de 1835. Berthelot, em 1845, fundou a Société d’Ethnologique, voltou a Tenerife em 1846, entre 1848 e 1874 desempenhou as funções de Agente Consular e Cônsul da França. Publicou: Les Gunaches, 1841 e 1845; La Conquète des canaries (1879) e as Antiquités Canariennes, em 1879.

Philip Barker-Webb (Milford House, Surrey, UK 1793 - Paris 1854). British botanist, he was educated at Harrow School and Christ Church, Oxford. He collected plants in Italy, Spain, Portugal and the Tetuan Mountains in Morocco, where he was the first botanist to do so. During his expedition to Brazil he stopped off in the Canaries, where he stayed much longer than planned. On his return from Brazil he stayed in the Canaries again, from 1828 to 1830, where he collected specimens of the flora, with the help of Sabin Berthelot.

Sabin Berthelot (Marseille, 1794 - 1880). French naturalist and ethnologist. After a career in the French Navy during the Napoleonic wars and later in the Merchant Navy, he settled in the Canaries in 1820, where he was a teacher at a school in Tenerife and administrator of the botanical gardens of the Marquis of Villanueva del Prato in Orotava. Berthelot devoted himself to the study of the natural history of the islands and received the collaboration of Barker-Webb, and it was possible to publish the first volume of the Histoire Naturelle in Genoa in 1835. Berthelot, in 1845, founded the Société d'Ethnologique, returned to Tenerife in 1846, between 1848 and 1874 he was Consular Agent and Consul of France. He published: Les Gunaches, 1841 and 1845; La Conquète des canaries (1879) and the Antiquités Canariennes in 1879.
