Ilustrado com frontispício arquitectónico; e no seu verso e na página de cólofon ilustrado com uma esfera armilar; possivelmente com o retrato de Sacrobosco dentro de uma cornija arquitectónica; e os retratos de Ciruelo e Aliaco dentro da primeira capitular no texto, letras capitulares com vinhetas e motivos fitomórficos; figuras geométricas intercaladas no texto (tudo aberto a talhe-doce).

Impressão a duas colunas coluna em caracteres góticos.

Encadernação do início do século XX em inteira de pele marroquin vermelho com nervos e ferros a ouro.

Primeira edição impressa em Espanha de grande raridade.

Exemplar impresso sobre papel de linho avergoado, apresentando leves vestígios de humidade marginal no pé do fólio III até ao fólio XXI; título de posse da época manuscrito no pé do frontispício “Compluti, 1526”; anotações bibliográficas manuscritas na guarda (moderna) anterior; e ex-libris armoriado de J. B. de Boyveau.

Giovanni di Sacrobosco ou Sacrobusto [John of Hollywood] foi um astrónomo, astrólogo e matemático inglês, é considerado um dos maiores eruditos do século XIII.

O comentador e tradutor desta edição foi o Pedro Sánchez Ciruelo (Daroca 1470 - Salamanca 1548), grande intelectual da sua época, estudou no colégio de San Ildefonso de Alcalá de Henares e na Universidade de Salamanca. Mais tarde foi professor na recém criada Universidade de Alcalá de Henares.

Primeira edição em língua castelhana, e também a primeira impressa na Península Ibérica. Esta edição do tratado influenciou de forma capital o ensino científico português e foi crucial aos navegadores Ibéricos que partiam para o Novo Mundo. A palavra América aparece no verso do fólio 42. O primeiro comentário em português ao tratado de Sacrobosco foi feito por Pedro Nunes em 1537. A sua leitura foi obrigatória em Espanha por ordem real publicada nas Leys da Recopilacion  (V. tit. XIII. Lib. II).

Illustrated with architectural frontis; and in its opposite page and in colophon page an world sphere; possibly the portrait of Sacrobosco inside an architectural cornice; portraits of Ciruelo and Aliaco inside letters on the first Chapter of the text, capital letters and vignettes with phytomorphic designs; and geometric figures interspersed in the text ( opened all intaglio ).

Printed in two columns column with Gothic characters .

Copy printed on linen paper, with slight damp stains at bottom of the folio by folio III XXI ; ownership title at bottom of the frontispiece "Compluti 1526"; modern bibliographical notes handwritten in previous blank page; and an heraldic ex - libris of J. B. de Boyveau.

Giovanni di Sacrobosco or Sacrobusto [or John of Hollywood] was an astronomer , mathematician and English astrologer considered one of the greatest scholars of the 13th Century [and according to bibliographical notice handwritten in this copy he is was one of the first to consider the Earth was round].

The commentator and translator of this edition was Pedro Sanchez Ciruelo (Daroca 1470 - Salamanca 1548), also a great intellectual of his time, who studied at the College of San Ildefonso in Alcalá de Henares and at the University of Salamanca. Later he taught at the new University of Alcalá de Henares.

First edition in Spanish language (of great rarity in Spain) and also the first printed in the Iberian Peninsula.

This treatise influenced the way Portuguese and Iberian knowledge of the navigators who left for the New World. The word America appears on the reverse of folio 42.

First Portuguese commentary on this work of Sacrobosco was made by Pedro Nunes in 1537. The reading of this book was compulsory in Spain by a Royal decree published in the Leys da Recopilacion (V. tit. XIII. Lib. II).

Alden-Landis 526-7: "Ciruelo mentions how King Ferdinand sent sailors westward to seek new islands, and how they returned with examples of strange birds, exotic unguents and spices, and gold. The native Americans are described as blue men with square heads."
