Folha de rosto a preto e vermelho impressão nítida em caracteres redondos no texto em português e com caracteres itálicos nos títulos e nas palavras em latim e adornada com alguns cabeções iniciais decoradas e florões de remate.

Exemplar com desgastes na encadernação em especial na coifa, nos cantos e à cabeça da pasta posterior com perda de pele; com assinatura de posse na folha de guarda anterior, com outra na folha de rosto, com manchas marginais e à cabeça das folhas ao longo de todo o volume e pequenos picos de traça que não afectam a leitura.

As folhas preliminares contêm a dedicatória, o prólogo, protestação de fidelidade e licenças com datas de 30 de Agosto d 1738 a 22 de agosto de 1739. Nas páginas 441 a 516 inclui decretos do Concílio dev Latrão com várias disposições em especial sobre a censura dos livros. Da página 517 ao fim inclui a Oração pronunciada por D. Jerónimo Ragazono, Bispo de Nanzianzeno, no encerramento do Concílio, em 1563.

Obra destinada à divulgação dos decretos, cânones e bulas promulgados pelo Concílio de Trento entre um vasto público com poucos conhecimentos de latim. Com esse fim, no texto original são intercaladas as traduções de expressões e mesmo palavras isoladas, com a tradução portuguesa à letra (ordo verborum - pela ordem das palavras) de cada palavra do original. Esta técnica de apresentar as traduções foi muito usada desde o século XVI ao XVIII, continuou a ser usada em meios escolares até ao século XX, e possibilitava uma aproximação muito pormenorizada ao texto original.

O Concilio de Trento foi um dos mais importantes da Igreja Católica e o mais influente na definição da doutrina do Catolicismo desde o século XVI até aos nossos dias. As suas sessões dividiram-se em três períodos: Tiveram início em 13 de Dezembro de 1545 até 1548. Durante o 2º Período (1551 a 1552) foram realizadas 6 sessões e por fim no 3º Período foram realizadas 9 sessões em 1562 e 1563. O Concílio teve uma participação cada vez mais importante de eclesiásticos e teólogos portugueses e os seus decretos começaram logo a ser aplicados em Portugal, que foi um dos países europeus mais fortemente influenciados pelas decisões do Concílio.

Title page in black and red crisp printing in round characters in the Portuguese text and with italic characters in the titles and Latin words and adorned with a few decorated initial headpieces and finishing fleurons.

Copy with signs of handling wear on the binding in particular at the headcap, at the corners and at the head of the rear board with loss of leather; with handwritten ownership title on the front flyleaf, with another on the title page, with marginal stains and at the head of the leaves throughout the volume small moth holes which do not affect reading.

The preliminary leaves contain the dedication, prologue, protestation of fidelity and licences with dates from 30 August d 1738 to 22 August 1739. Pages 441 to 516 include decrees of the Lateran Council with various provisions in particular on the censorship of books. From page 517 to the end includes the Oration pronounced by Bishop Jerome Ragazono, Bishop of Nanzianzeno, at the closing of the Council in 1563.

Work intended for the dissemination of the decrees, canons and bulls promulgated by the Council of Trent among a wide public with little knowledge of Latin. To this end, translations of expressions and even isolated words are interspersed in the original text, with the Portuguese translation to the letter (ordo verborum - in the order of the words) of each word of the original. This technique of presenting the translations was widely used from the 16th to the 18th century, continued to be used in scholastic circles until the 20th century, and allowed a very detailed approximation to the original text.

The Council of Trent was one of the most important in the Catholic Church and the most influential in defining the doctrine of Catholicism from the 16th century to the present day. Its sessions were divided into three periods: They began on 13 December 1545 until 1548. During the 2nd Period (1551 to 1552) 6 sessions were held and finally in the 3rd Period 9 sessions were held in 1562 and 1563. The Council had an increasingly important participation of Portuguese ecclesiastics and theologians and its decrees soon began to be applied in Portugal, which was one of the European countries most strongly influenced by the Council's decisions.
