Este documento trata-se de um feoffment que regista uma transacção de terras entre William ap Richard e Jenkin Morgan ap John, na vila de Trallong, no condado de Brecknockshire, do País de Gales, que tinha sido recentemente anexado ao Reino de Inglaterra, em 1535. Trata-se também de uma «carta partida».

Um feoffment é um tipo de documento semelhante a uma escritura, que regista a venda de bens imóveis. Foi desenvolvido na Idade Média por volta do século XII e, embora muitas outras formas de transmissão de propriedade se tenham desenvolvido a partir do século XVI, os feoffments continuaram a ser utilizados até ao século XIX, por vezes em conjunto dessas outras formas, para garantir a total legalidade do processo.

Uma «carta partida» ou «quirógrafo» (em inglês chirograph), é um termo que designa um documento manuscrito em duplicado, triplicado, ou muito raramente em quadriplicado, numa única folha de pergaminho. As partes eram depois cortadas em linha ondulada, encaixando umas nas outras como peças de um puzzle. Este processo foi utilizado durante séculos como garantia de autenticidade.

This document is a feoffment which records a land transaction between William ap Richard and Jenkin Morgan ap John, in the village of Trallong, in the county of Brecknockshire, Wales, which had recently been annexed to the Kingdom of England in 1535. It is also a «chirograph».

A feoffment is a type of document similar to a deed, which registers the sale of immovable property. It was developed in the Middle Ages around the 12th century and, although many other forms of property transfer developed from the 16th century onwards, thes feoffments continued to be used until the 19th century, sometimes in conjunction with these other forms, to guarantee the total legality of the process.
