Exemplar com (aparente) falta das folhas de rosto do 1º e do 2º volumes e levemente aparado com ligeira perda de texto no pé da obra. Apesar do exemplar não apresentar folhas de rostos no 1º e 2º volumes, no restante parece estar de acordo com outros exemplares colacionados.

Obra com texto bilingue confrontado em Latim e Francês, encontrando-se a cronologia com apontamentos em marginália resumindo o pleito entre Jesuítas e Capuchinhos desde a morte de São Francisco Xavier até á data da publicação desta obra.

Pierre Norbert (1697-1769), pseudónimo para Pierre Parisot, cura Parisot, Norbert de Bar-le-Duc, Norbert de Lorraine, ou Abbé Platel, foi monge Capuchinho (1716) e padre (1729), enviado ao Malabar e mais tarde para Pondicherry em 1736. Depois de ser nomeado Procurador da Missão Francesa durante três anos, entrou em conflito com os Jesuítas sobre a questão dos ritos religiosos do Malabar.

Esta obra é um relato muito detalhado da missão jesuíta no Malabar entre 1606 e 1744. O autor critica a conduta e as acções dos jesuítas por toda parte. Inclui muita informação sobre o povo indiano, seus costumes, etc. Descreve os procedimentos dos jesuítas na Missão de Malabar, onde 'autorizaram a mais blasfema mistura dos ritos' cristãos e pagãos. Obra rara contendo um violento ataque aos Jesuítas e especialmente suas às actividades missionárias. Os dois primeiros volumes tratam exclusivamente da Missão Jesuíta no Malabar. O volume terceiro expõe a animosidade entre os Jesuítas e os Capuchinhos, descreve a ''rebelião'' dos Jesuítas contra o Papa Bento XIV. O autor termina seu trabalho com o desejo de que uma bula papal possa abolir os Jesuítas. Em 1773, o seu desejo foi cumprido e este livro certamente desempenhou um papel importante.

Père Norbert (1697-1769), which is a pseydonym for Pierre Parisot, Curé Parisot, Norbert de Bar-le-Duc, Norbert de Lorraine, or Abbé Platel; was a Capuchin monk (1716) and priest (1729) who was sent to Malabar and later to Pondicherry in 1736 after being appointed Procurator of the French Mission for three years, where he soon came into conflict with the Jesuits on the issue of the Malabaric rites.

This work is a very detailed account of the Jesuit mission at Malabar between 1606 and 1744. It is criticizing the conduct and actions of the Jesuit throughout. Includes much information about the Indians, their customs etc. Describes the proceedings of the Jesuits in the Malabar Mission, where they “authorized the most blasphemous mixture of the Christian and Pagan rites' It is a rare book containing a vicious attack on the Jesuit order and especially their missiological activities. The first two volumes deal with exclusively with the Jesuit Mission in Malabar. The third volume is on the animosity between Jesuits and Capuchins, describes the ''rebellion'' of the Jesuits against Pope Benedict XIV. Almost all the letters are in Latin but a French or Italian translation is provided for in the text. The author ends his work with the wish that a papal bull might abolish the Jesuit order. In 1773 his wish was fullfilled and this book played certainly a large part herein.
