Ilustrado com 31 [de 33] mapas de página inteira impressos em extra texto, sendo também alguns de página dupla e outros desdobráveis. Os dois mapas em falta são respetivamente o da península Ibérica e o da Germania, que aparentemente já não se encontravam presentes quando as duas obras foram encadernadas.

Impressão adornada com capitulares xilográficas de várias dimensões. A folha de rosto e último fólio da obra apresentam uma gravura com a marca do impressor, esta última é de maior dimensão. O mapa 33 que é último da obra é de página dupla, apresenta a ilha da Madeira muito detalhadamente em uma página inteira, sendo a outra pagina a ilha de forte Ventura.

Obra clássica com um atlas geográfico do mundo conhecido pelos romanos, comentada pelo matemático Cristiano Vurtisius.

Exemplar extremamente valorizado com a assinatura autografa na folha de rosto (ou ex-libris da biblioteca) de Abraão Ortelius (1527-1591), famoso cartógrafo holandês de origem hebraica, datada de Antuérpia a 20 Abril de 1581. Apresenta na folha de guarda uma antiga nota de um catálogo bibliográfico em francês: «Précieux exemplaire portant sur le titre la signature autographe d"Abraham Ortelius le savant géographe né et mort à Anvers (1527-1598) dont les ouvrages font époque dans l"histoire de la geographie.»

Encadernação da época em pergaminho flexível com restauros.

 Copy highly valued with the ownership title signed: a manuscript ex-libris from the personal library of the famous Dutch cartographer, of Hebrew origin, Abraham Ortelius (1527-1591): dated Antwerp, April 20, 1581.

A French bibliographical scrap from an old catalogue is stamped at the blank page: «Précieux exemplaire portant sur le titre la signature autographe d"Abraham Ortelius le savant géographe né et mort à Anvers (1527-1598) dont les ouvrages font époque dans l"histoire de la geographie.» [Precious copy containing in the title page the handwritten signature of Abraham Ortelius, a scholar and geographer, who was born and died in Antwerp (1527-1598) whose works are a benchmark in the history of geography].

The book, a great classical work, which is a geographic atlas and description of the world known to the Romans, is commented by mathematician Cristiano Vurtisius.

Binding: contemporary parchment, inside a modern transport case.

Copy with light damp stains.

Illustrated with 31 [of 33] full-page maps printed extra text, some double-paged and other folding pages. The two missing maps are respectively the Iberian Peninsula and the Germania, apparently no longer present when the two works were bound (*).

Adorned with various dimensions engraved woodcuts. The cover and last folio of the work has the printer's device, the latter in larger size. The map 33, the last of the work, is double paged and shows the island of Madeira in great detail in a full page, and in the other page the island of Fuerteventura.
