René Descartes (1596–1650) foi um filósofo, matemático e cientista francês, amplamente considerado o pai da filosofia moderna e o fundador do racionalismo. A sua obra revolucionou o pensamento ocidental ao colocar a razão humana como a base central de todo o conhecimento.

The standard academic edition of Descartes’ works, in French, containing texts in Latin and French (particularly translations and compilations), organised as follows: Volumes I–V contain Descartes’ chronological correspondence, which is extremely useful for historical and philosophical studies; and vols. A highly significant work because it brings together, organises and codifies the thought of one of the founders of modernity, and enables us to understand how the modern way of thinking about knowledge, the subject, science and reason came into being. It covers areas such as philosophy, science and history and culture, amongst others, providing insights into modern philosophy, influencing the development of science and shaping the way in which the West came to understand reason, knowledge and the human being.

René Descartes (1596–1650) was a French philosopher, mathematician and scientist, widely regarded as the father of modern philosophy and the founder of rationalism. His work revolutionised Western thought by establishing human reason as the central foundation of all knowledge.
