Encadernações da época inteiras de pele (excepto o tomo I com encadernação do início do século XX com lombada e cantos em pele ao gosto da época).

Ilustrado no Tomo I com folha de rosto em portada decorativa com as figuras de S. Miguel Arcanjo e de Palas Ateneia. Datas (no pé de imprensa dos respectivos frontispícios): do 1º volume 1675 [i.e. 1678]; do 2º volume 1679; do 3º volume 1680.

Exemplar com picos de traça e vestígios de humidade sem afectarem o texto. Os 2º e 3º volumes com ex-libris armoriado de D. Jozé da Silva Pessanha e rasgo à cabeça das mesmas folhas de rosto com restauro marginal no canto superior direito.

Faltam nos volumes II e III as gravuras extra-texto com os retratos dos reis de Portugal, (correspondentes a respectivamente 16+6 gravuras) que muito raramente se encontram nos exemplares talvez por serem de muito fraca qualidade gráfica.

Segunda edição, sendo que os tomos II e III são publicados na mesma pela primeira vez. O tomo I, embora da segunda edição, é da variante impressa com frontispício gravado em vez do título igual aos outros dois tomos.

Importante história de Portugal, por ser a que maior divulgação conheceu no mundo culto dos séculos XVII e XVIII, exercendo grande influência na visão dos estrageiros sobre Portugal.

Inclui uma descrição da história do Mundo desde o Dilúvio Universal e abarca a história de Portugal até ao Reinado de Filipe IV de Espanha, III de Portugal.

Contemporary full leather bindings (except for volume I with na early 20th century with a leather spine and corners in contemporary style).

Illustrated in Volume I with title page with decorative forntispiece with figures of St Michael the Archangel and Palas Atheneia. Dates (at the foot of the respective frontispieces): of the 1st volume 1675 [i.e. 1678]; of the 2nd volume 1679; of the 3rd volume 1680.

Copy with traces of moth holes and traces of humidity without affecting the text area. The 2nd and 3rd volumes with an armorial ex-libris by D. Jozé da Silva Pessanha and a tear at the head of the same title pages with marginal restoration in the top right-hand corner.

Volumes II and III lack the hors-texte engravings with the portraits of the kings of Portugal, (corresponding to 16+6 engravings respectively) which are very rarely found in copies perhaps because they are of very poor graphic quality.

Second edition, with volumes II and III published in the same edition for the first time. Volume I, although from the second edition, is the printed variant with an engraved frontispiece instead of the title like the other two volumes.

Important history of Portugal, as it was the most widely publicised in the cultured world of the 17th and 18th centuries, exerting a great influence on foreigners" view of Portugal.

Includes a description of the history of the world since the Universal Flood and covers the history of Portugal up to the reign of Philip IV of Spain, III of Portugal.
